Celebrating its golden anniversary in 2023, Barons may not have grand '50' balloons or a celebratory cake to share, but it certainly has an engaging story steeped in rich history to narrate.
Tracing the roots of Barons, the journey started in 1973. The company was originally conceived as 'Dunn & Roberts', named after its founders David Dunn and Jack Roberts. Their entrepreneurial journey began with the opening of their furniture store in Blackpool, swiftly followed by the establishment of their first manufacturing unit at Cornford Road, Blackpool.

While we are unable to provide the exact origin of the Barons’ name – a fact that has faded into history – we can tell you that in 1991, the business evolved into a limited company under the name Barons (Fylde Coast Supplies) Limited.
Barons is renowned for its expertise in delivering furniture for the healthcare sector. However, this was not always the central focus. David and Jack stumbled upon this niche by a lucky accident. A customer who visited their store requested chairs for a local care home. Spotting an opportunity, they embraced the request, thus beginning their journey into the care industry and working towards creating high-quality products for their newfound clientele's needs.

Their readiness to meet diverse customer demands propelled Barons into a pivotal role within the healthcare industry when it came to contract furniture. To this day, the company consistently innovates their products to enhance them for the healthcare sector, focusing on residents' comfort and safety. Barons’ emphasis remains firmly on their customers and their unique needs – from organising coffee mornings for residents to discuss furniture ideas, to utilising their distinctive display van service to provide customers with an up-close look at their furniture and fabric options.

The current stewards of Barons, Managing Director Rachel Rosser and Chairman Andrew Rosser, joined the ranks of David Dunn and Jack Roberts over four decades ago. The duo contributed significantly to Barons' growth, spearheading the development of new product lines, shifting to larger premises in line with business expansion, and eventually taking the company over in 2000. Rachel and Andrew's work ethic remains undiminished, and their commitment to the continuous improvement of Barons' products and services is unwavering.
