The BCFA team visited Decorex International to meet the 13 Members who were exhibiting at the show this year. Decorex has been a fixture of London Design Festival for many years and is primarily an exhibition for high end domestic interiors, although it also attracts some high-quality commercial specifiers.
This year will be the last time the event is located at Syon Park in West London where accessibility has been an issue for exhibitors and visitors. In 2019, the show will be moving to Olympia in the heart of Kensington, with new dates announced for 6th to 9th October, which allows Decorex to break free of London Design Festival.
Take a look at some of our highlights from our members at this year’s show….
Charlotte James Furniture Ltd
Charlotte James Furniture, a British Manufacturer based in Scotland, showcased a living and bedroom space on their stand, we particularly liked the show stopping yellow headboard!
Vescom
The Vescom stand included a lot of their contract finishes within their stand design to attract the commercial specifiers.
Harrison Spinks
Harrison Spinks are another British Manufacturer and they were proud to remind us that they are celebrating as National Bed Federations ‘Bed Manufacturer of the Year’. This follows on from their acceptance of the Queens Award for Enterprise that they received last month from the Vice Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. Very impressive!
iLiv
The iLiv stand displayed some of their beautiful new timeless fabric collections, including Opulent Isadore and Sumptuous Chalfont.
Decca
We loved the vibrant sofa shown in the image above, it forms part of the ‘London Collection’ from Decca, designed by Robbie Llewellyn of Bert Frank.
Timorous Beasties
Timorous Beasties showcased a curated selection of their latest fabrics and wallpapers that combined both digital and hand-printing. The highlight for us on this stand was the ‘Golden Oriole’ with a graduating colour and a digital tree print with an overlay of their illustrious hand printed design (seen in second image).
Lincrusta
Lincrusta took a feature position in addition to their usual stand which allowed them to show their technical expertise with live demonstrations. The selection of finishes and designs show how this heritage product can enhance traditional as well as modern projects.
Hypnos
Hypnos’ concept behind their stand highlighted the importance of Sleep for Health and Wellbeing, through the colours chosen and the innovative materials put together to create these products. These are designed to help their customers sleep well and enhance their overall wellbeing. We loved the colour theme and after being on our feet for most of the day would have benefited from a rest on their truly comfortable bed!
KAI
KAI went for a sophisticated and elegant display with an array of fabrics, including plush velvets and metallics from their new Autumn/Winter ‘18 range. For more information about the new range, click here
Heathfield
The Heathfield stand caught our attention with a beautiful decorative lighting display which sat alongside some of their other fine lighting.
The Isle Mill
The Isle Mill stepped away from their traditional stand design to create a new and refreshed display designed to showcase their stunning products against a neutral backdrop. They will soon be launching a new website, so keep your eyes peeled!
Warwick
The Warwick fabrics stand was very busy with customers, as they were showing their latest collection. We particularly liked their product ‘Palazzo’ which launched exclusively at Decorex, and was inspired by 17th Century design, focusing on capturing a moment in time (second image, red fabric).
Epoc/Mattison Beds
The Epoc stand (Mattison Beds) had a very patriotic backdrop reflecting their British Manufacturing heritage.
As well as visiting members, The BCFA team also took time out to attend a Seminar ‘Click Bait: How Social Media is Changing the way Designers Work’ which gave an overview on the power of social media, and how this has changed the dynamic between the way designers work. The influence that social media, and the strongest platforms for designers. Design Insider will be putting together an article from the seminar, so keep your eyes peeled!
We look forwarding to visiting again next year at the new location!
